To achieve this ambitious goal, our Mission is executed through clear, actionable steps that address the entire spectrum of an animal’s journey from distress to adoption. We focus first on providing immediate, critical rescue for abandoned, injured, and neglected domestic and wild animals within our community. Following safe extraction, we deliver the necessary medical care and rigorous rehabilitation required for their full recovery. A key component of our success is our network of nurturing foster homes, which provide the essential emotional and social development needed before finding their permanent family. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to match each animal with a loving forever home, completing the circle of rescue. Crucially, we understand that direct action is only one part of the solution; therefore, Smiling Furs is also actively involved in advocating for comprehensive animal welfare legislation and community education to address the root causes of suffering and create lasting systemic change. 🐾 Our Core Work: Four Pillars of Welfare
At Smiling Furs, our mission to create happier lives for animals is built upon four essential pillars of care and advocacy. We don’t just rescue; we commit to the full journey of healing and hope.
1. Rescuing Pets
We act as the first line of defense for animals facing immediate danger, abandonment, or neglect. Our dedicated rescue teams respond to calls for help, safely extracting pets and strays from difficult and perilous situations, ensuring their immediate safety and transport to care facilities.
2. Animal Foster & Feeding
Providing a loving bridge between rescue and adoption is crucial. Our extensive Foster Program places animals in nurturing temporary homes where they can recover and socialize in a family environment. We also run Community Feeding Initiatives to ensure vulnerable stray populations have access to essential nutrition and hydration.
3. Finding Pets a Home
This is our ultimate goal: securing a loving, responsible, and permanent family for every animal we save. Through thorough screening, meet-and-greets, and adoption counseling, we carefully match our rescued “Furs” with forever homes that meet their unique needs and personalities.
4. Medical Care and Spay/Neuter
Health and prevention are paramount. Every animal rescued receives a comprehensive medical evaluation, necessary vaccinations, and treatment for injuries or illness. We strongly advocate for and provide Spay/Neuter services to manage pet overpopulation responsibly and improve community animal health.
