Our volunteers are the heart and hands of Smiling Furs. We rely on dedicated individuals to keep our operations running smoothly and our animals happy and healthy. No matter your schedule or skillset, there’s a role for you:

  • Shelter Cleaner: Help maintain a clean and safe environment.

Our Adoption Process: Simple Steps to Forever

We want the adoption journey to be smooth, thoughtful, and successful for both you and the pet. Our process is designed to ensure a perfect, lifelong match.

Clear, Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Application Submission: Fill out our comprehensive adoption application form online. This helps us understand your living situation, experience with pets, and expectations.

2. Screening & Checks: Our team will review your application and conduct a personal screening, which may include vet references and a Home Check (virtual or in-person) to ensure a safe environment.

3. Meet & Greet: Once approved, you will be invited to meet the animal you are interested in. This is the crucial stage where you and the pet confirm your connection!

4. Finalization: After the successful Meet & Greet, you will sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. You then officially welcome your new family member home!

Adoption Requirements and Commitment

Smiling Furs requires every adopter to be a responsible, lifelong advocate for their new pet. We require all adopters to be 18 years or older and commit to providing continuous, quality care, including:

– Providing safe housing and daily exercise.
– Offering appropriate nutrition.
– Ensuring regular veterinary care and necessary medical treatments throughout the pet’s life.
– Adhering to local animal control laws.
