The First Day When Disco Danced Into Our Lives!

Some moments in life don’t just happen — they explode into your world, changing everything forever. For us, that moment came the day Disco walked into our lives.
My wife has always been the animal lover between the two of us. She already had a seven-year-old dog, Jasper, and if you’d ask her who she loved more—me or Jasper—I’d be too scared to hear the answer! When we got married after four years of dating, she moved to Bengaluru with me. Life in a metro city was fast, hectic, and for me as a startup founder, almost always glued to work. She, on the other hand, worked mostly from home.
I started noticing how quiet her days had become, and somewhere deep down, I felt guilty. That’s when the idea struck—let’s get a puppy.
Now, here’s the twist: I’ve always loved dogs… from a distance. Since childhood, I never had one, so while I adored them, I was also terrified of being around them. And yet, here I was, driving back home with a tiny puppy in a bucket on the passenger seat. Two whole hours. Just me and him.
I’ll confess—I was petrified. I kept thinking, What if he jumps out? What if he runs inside the car? What on earth will I do? I had even planned that if things went wrong, I’d stop on the highway and ask for help from a stranger. That was the extent of my ‘courage’ that day.
But fate had other plans.
When I finally walked into the house, puppy with me, my wife’s reaction was priceless. She looked at me, then at him, and immediately said, “How will we manage this? Let’s return him.”
Yet, her eyes betrayed her words. She was already in love with the little furball. She picked him up, hugged him, and within minutes, her world had shifted. That’s when she gave him his name—Disco.
And just like that, Disco became family.
Time began to fly. The same me, who once couldn’t sit alone in a car with him, was suddenly falling for his every move—the way he followed me around, the way his tiny eyes lit up when I came home, the pure joy he carried in his little tail wag.
People often say love is like falling asleep—slowly, then all at once. That’s exactly what happened to me with Disco. One moment I was scared, hesitant, and unsure. The next, I couldn’t imagine life without him.
The first day he came into our lives wasn’t just the beginning of a new chapter—it was the start of a new story. A love story that continues every single day.
